Anthony O'Brien
Managing Director / Technical Lead
Anthony is a physicist and Radiation Consultant who started Radiation Professionals after many years’ experience in Medical Physics, instrumentation, teaching physics at Curtin University and 2 years with the Gemini Observatory in Chile. Anthony has a wide coverage of expertise in the radiation field including running all levels of training courses, creating radiation management documentation for all levels of industry and mining, planning and conducting environmental studies, designing and maintaining new electronic equipment and supervising transport of radioactive substances; including for the disposal operations at the Mt Walton Intractable Waste Disposal Facility.
Annelize Van Rooyan
Snr Radiation Protection Advisor
Annelize has been working in Radiation Safety since 1993 as an Engineering Specialist, Health Physicist & Radiation Safety Officer. She holds qualifications in Nuclear Technology and Health Physics (Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, RSA). She was responsible for establishing, management and auditing of Radiation Safety Management programs and projects for various facilities. She also provided guidance and advice to a number of projects on the radiation safety aspects of system, facility and equipment design and development during all stages of the project from concept design to hot commissioning and operation as well as during maintenance, decommissioning and rehabilitation of the site.
Simon Booth
Snr Radiation Protection Advisor
Simon has been working in Radiation Safety since 2001 as both a Government Regulator and Industry Consultant. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics), a diploma in OSH, and is a qualified trainer and assessor under the Australian Quality Training Framework. Simon is licensed to handle, use and audit the use of radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Simon's experience includes: managing radioactive waste disposal; education and training; knowledge of relevant legislation; regulatory licensing and registration of radiation users and owners; training and consulting and emergency response.
Mike Irvine
Snr Radiation Protection Advisor
Michael is a physicist and Radiation Senior Consultant who has been working in the industry since 2002 after many years’ experience in: Medical and Health Physics, as a physicist for Royal Perth Hospital and Senior physicist at Biomedical Technology Services. Michael has a wide coverage of expertise in the radiation field including Uranium, Mining, Rare Earths, Mineral Sands, Oil & Gas and Industrial Sector as well as running all levels of training courses, creating radiation management documentation for all levels of industry and mining, planning and conducting environmental studies, designing and maintaining new electronic equipment and supervising transport of radioactive substances.
Ana Parra
Radiation Protection Advisor
Ana has been working in Radiation Safety since 2010 as both a Field Engineer & Radiation Safety Officer Ana holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Ana is licensed to perform a range of services in the Mining and Oil & Gas and Industrial Sector including: Site Compliance: Radiation Safety Officer duties; Site ‘regulatory compliance’ audits; Preparation of Radiation Management Plans and Emergency Procedures, handling of radioactive isotopes – loading/unloading sealed sources, delivering training programs, transport of dangerous goods, response to Radiological Council audits, Inspection of equipment containing radioactive substances & advice to Oil & Gas clients.
Rex Breheny
Snr Radiation Technical Officer
Rex has been working in Radiation Safety since 1982. Rex holds a Graduate Diploma in Isotope use & Handling and an Associate Diploma in Electronics / Engineering. Rex is licensed to perform a range of services to the Uranium, Mining, Rare Earths, Mineral Sands Oil & Gas and Industrial Sector including: Site Compliance: Radiation Safety Officer duties; Site ‘regulatory compliance’ audits; Industrial gauge compliance; Preparation of Radiation Management Plans and Emergency Procedures, Radiological Emergency Response, Transport of radioactive substances; Installation of radiation gauges, Response to Radiological Council audits, Inspection of equipment containing radioactive Isotopes and using x-ray units to ensure ‘regulatory compliance.
